Words of Affirmations To Start Each Day
Updated: Oct 26, 2022
Affirmations are powerful words that can help you to maintain a positive mindset. They can remind you of your goals, the identity and emotions you want to affirm, or as part of a daily morning ritual or meditation practice. In this post, I'll share my favorite affirmations and explain how you can use them also to improve your life!
Morning Routine

When you wake up, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the day ahead. But with a solid morning routine, you can start your day on the right foot by doing things that make you happy and help you get into a positive mindset.
Upon waking, many people first go through their phones to check notifications and emails from the night before. Instead, try to take some time to say thank you for all the beautiful things in your life before diving into any negative news or drama (for example: "Thank you for my health and well-being").
Next is listening or saying affirmations that will make you feel confident and joyful about the day that is to come ahead. I recommend listening to affirmations while also saying them aloud so that your subconscious absorbs all those beautiful and positive words that will make your brain and heart happy!
"Today, I choose joy."
Today, I choose to be happy, positive, and grateful for all that I have in my life. I will make this choice because it feels good to be happy and positive instead of living in the past, focused on outcomes or situations I did not favor. I know that the more often I make this choice, the easier it gets to repeat every day; eventually, it becomes second nature to me, so much so that choosing joy becomes automatic!
"Be grateful for what you already have while you pursue your goals."
"Be grateful for what you already have while you pursue your goals."
This is an excellent goal-setting affirmation to start the day because it reminds us that everything we need to be happy is already inside us. It can also help us keep our perspective when things aren't going as we hoped. In other words, our "dream" may not come true today, but there's no reason it won't tomorrow, in a week, or even later this month!
"I am divinely guided and protected."
I am divinely guided and protected by a higher power. Whether you believe in God, The Universe, Spirit Guides, or Angels, I say this affirmation every morning to affirm the faith that I have in the plan that God has destined for me, being confident that everything is working together for my greater good and any relationship, situation or 'opportunity' that did not work out was simply God protecting me from an outcome that was not meant for me.

"I am confident.”
I am confident in not just the outer appearance that I present to the world, but in the decisions I make regarding my personal and business choices. I am confident in the words that I am speaking. I am confident that my day will be better than the last. I am confident that doors that I thought were once closed are opening to me now. I am confident that a season of breakthroughs is entering my life.
"I learn from my mistakes and continue to press forward."
In life, I believe that what we may consider just a mistake is also a lesson for us to learn from so that we do not find ourselves going through a similar situation later. Learning from our mistakes to make better choices the next time is crucial for us to understand any situation we face. Learning from our own mistakes allows us to share those experiences with others, possibly saving them from making the same mistake we did.
"I'm taking responsibility for my own life and happiness."
This is a simple one. If you want to be happy and healthy, don't wait for someone else to change. Don't wait for others to make you happy. Don’t wait for that money to come in to change your attitude. Don’t wait for that blessing to determine your outlook on life. Take responsibility for the life and happiness that you want by starting with the most important person, yourself.
"Whatever is good for my soul, I will do it often."
Using this affirmation, you're committing to taking care of yourself daily. You'll start each day by asking yourself what your soul needs and then making those habits regularly.
It can be as simple as getting out in nature or meditating for 10 minutes every morning. The best way to do that is to think of self-care habits that make your soul feel the happiest and connected to your higher self, write those down and choose the ones that fit your daily routine; find the time every day that you can do these activities and start implementing this action consistently.
The only way to ensure that these good habits become part of your daily routine is by making them easy and fun for yourself! Please don't force yourself into doing something that doesn't feel right for you; instead, focus on adding new activities slowly, so they don't feel overwhelming!

"I forgive myself."
Forgiveness is a powerful tool for healing. Forgiving others can help you move past the pain of the past and let go of anger, resentment, and other energy-draining emotions but learning to forgive yourself first for any past experiences that you consider as a mistake or feel as though you let yourself down during that time is the first place to start.
As it turns out, forgiveness isn't just something you do for someone else; it's something you need to do for yourself too. If you're carrying around feelings of anger or resentment towards someone who has hurt you, you are allowing those negative emotions to take up space in your mind where positive ones could be growing instead.
"If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you."
Challenges are a good thing. They help us grow and learn, which allows us to become better versions of ourselves. Challenges will enable us to step into a different version of ourselves that we were afraid of or didn't think we could show up as. They also help us reach our goals! If something isn't challenging, try to find something that will. Once you find something that does challenge you and pushes your limits, then it will make a big difference in your life.
"I will always be able to reflect today and know that I gave my best effort."
When you're faced with a challenging situation, it's important to remember that your best effort is all you can give. Even if things don't go as planned or you aren't able to do everything that you set out to do, there will always be something positive about the experience. You've learned something new and grown as a person by trying your best—and this will remind you how far you've come when times get tough again.
Affirming Who We Are
Affirmations are a powerful tool for anyone who wants to build their confidence, achieve their goals and create the life they have always dreamed of. What are you waiting for if you are not already using affirmations in your daily life?
Affirmations can help us see things that we may otherwise overlook or not even be aware o. Affirmations allow us to feel past our current circumstances to connect with our higher self and bring that sense of peace that we are looking for within our lives.
My challenge for you this week would be to say at least ten affirmations for the next seven days, check in with yourself by next Sunday and see how you now feel incorporating this into your routine.

I hope this list has helped you find some affirmations for a solid start to your day. A great way to use these statements is by writing them down on paper and posting them where you see them daily. It can be in the bathroom mirror, kitchen cabinet, or any place where they will be seen daily. As each new day begins, repeat these words aloud with feeling as if they are already true!
